Jennifer Engrácio was born in Vancouver, Canada on the traditional territory of the Musqueam.  Her ancestors are from all around the Mediterranean Sea, the United Kingdom, Eastern Europe, Western and Northern Africa. Her parents were both born in Portugal and Portuguese is her first language. She is a daughter, sister, partner, educator, spiritual seeker, godmother, learner, friend, traveler, auntie and earth-based spiritual practitioner. She currently lives with her partner Michelle in Calgary, Canada in the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy, Tsuut’ina Nation, Stoney Nakoda Nation, and Métis Region III.

Jennifer Engrácio (B.Ed., M.A.) has been a certified teacher since 2001, working in all sorts of learning environments–including public and alternative schools. Unlike many other educators who have only worked in public or private schools, she’s had the unique opportunity to observe how children learn in various settings. She supports choice in education and believes that parents are in the optimal position to decide which education pathway would work well for their children. After all, they’ve walked alongside their children and know them best!

Also in 2004, Jen launched Wise Child Education Consulting. She specifically supports homeschooling families and self-directed learners globally and has seen the ways this has positively impacted so many parents and learners. She has a deep passion for working with children as well as great respect and reverence for their worldview at each stage of their development. She is a trauma-informed educator and parent with training in Satir Family Counseling. Jen holds a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University (2001). She received her master’s degree via Antioch University in the United States (2022), which included utilizing Indigenous Research Methods as the basis for her graduate work. The question she explored involved utilizing her own ancestors’ indigenous epistemologies (ceremony, dance, poetry, song, drumming, and storytelling) to support the healing of collective, historical and intergenerational trauma in the modern world.

Jennifer Engrácio has been aligned with earth-based spirituality her whole life.  She has been an active student of earth-based spirituality since 2000, learning from various teachers and elders worldwide. Some include: traditional indigenous, shamanic, pagan, Druidic, Taoist and Buddhist. Jen continues to study earth-based medicine and applies her knowledge within the sacred container of group ceremony. She supports individuals in living from their hearts, their spirits, and within their personal naturalness to bring ease and joy to their life walk.  The intent is always to empower others in their healing and personal growth work.

Jen’s Reiki Master training was completed via Ki Lifestyle Solutions.  She received lomilomi training from Shamanic Bodywork as well as from traditional Hawaiian kumus (teachers) of Traditional  Hawaiian Medicine.
